CONSIDERED / FROM START TO FINISH

Routes and locations.
Before walls are finished.

We consider available pathways, wall construction and the location of network equipment. Concealed cabling depends on access; we explain any visible routes before work begins.

We plan the connections and equipment layout together, with clear labelling and access for future changes. Cable specifications, network points and testing are agreed for your project.

Plan your data cabling

NBN & WI-FI

Router in the wrong spot?
Wi-Fi that drops out?

Where the NBN connection comes into the house is not always where the router should live. Cabling inside the home can fix that.

Moving the router
We run a cable from the NBN connection box to a better spot for the router, such as a central hallway or a study, so it covers more of the home.
The NBN equipment itself
The NBN connection box and the lead-in belong to NBN Co and your provider. Moving those needs their arrangement; we look after the cabling on your side.
Wi-Fi access points
Ceiling or wall access points cabled back to the router or a network switch give steadier Wi-Fi in far rooms and upstairs.
Wired points for desks & TVs
A data point at the desk, TV or gaming console takes the busiest devices off the Wi-Fi.
A tidy network cabinet
Router, switch and patch panel in one place, labelled so changes are easy later.

03 / KNOW YOUR SETUP

A network that fits.
A scope you understand.

Your internet service, router, devices and internal cabling each play a different role in the connection.

Cable routes
Existing walls, roof access and separation from other services affect the installation route.
Equipment location
Plan space and power for the router, switch or access point. Specify the devices before finalising outlet locations.
Testing & records
We agree the required cabling and testing, label installed points and provide applicable cabling documentation.
Internet performance
Internal cabling cannot guarantee a provider’s speed or resolve every wireless issue. Network hardware and the internet service also matter.

05 / BEFORE WE GET STARTED

Good questions.
Clear answers.

Do you provide data and networking in Vermont?

Yes. We cover every part of Vermont (VIC 3133). Send your street, the work you need and any access notes, and we will confirm availability and the next step. We also cover Forest Hill and Mitcham.

Do I need data cabling or better Wi-Fi in my Vermont home?

Often both: a few wired points for desks and TVs, and access points cabled back to a central cabinet for Wi-Fi coverage. We plan routes to suit the house and its construction.

What affects the cost of data and networking in Vermont?

Mainly access (roof space, subfloor and wall construction), the existing circuits and whether the switchboard has room for the work. 80% of Vermont homes are separate houses, where roof and subfloor access usually make cable runs simpler. We confirm the scope before quoting.

Do you provide registered cabling work?

Yes. Voltra provides registered cabling work within the agreed scope. We confirm the requirements for your proposed installation before quoting.

Will a data point make my internet faster?

It can provide a wired path to compatible equipment, but it cannot guarantee internet speed. The plan, provider, router, devices and network layout also affect performance.

Can cabling be added without opening walls?

Sometimes, depending on the building and available pathways. We assess access and explain visible routes or openings before agreeing the installation.

Do you move the NBN connection?

Provider-owned equipment and the network boundary need specific arrangements. We confirm what customer-side cabling we can do and identify work that needs your provider.

YOUR HOME / YOUR AREA

Vermont.
A clearer next step.

Vermont had about 10,990 residents and about 4,020 homes at the 2021 Census, with a median age of 40. 80% of Vermont homes are separate houses, where Wi-Fi strength drops at the far end of the home. An average of 2.8 people per household means plenty of devices competing for the connection. By comparison, the share of homes that are separate houses is lower in neighbouring Forest Hill (72%) and Mitcham (63%).

Vermont is about 25 km south-east of our Lalor base, in Melbourne's east, around Bellbird Dell. Vermont sits within the Whitehorse council area. We also work in neighbouring Forest Hill, Mitcham, Nunawading and Ringwood.
