The housing changes as you travel. Victorian and Edwardian terraces sit close to the city in Brunswick, Fitzroy and Northcote. Post-war brick and weatherboard homes fill much of Reservoir, Thomastown and Lalor. Family homes from the 1970s to the 1990s line Mill Park, Bundoora and Greensborough, and new estates keep growing in Wollert, Mernda, Doreen and Craigieburn.

Solar is common too. Clean Energy Regulator records show more than 125,000 small-scale solar systems installed since 2001 across the 45 postcodes these suburbs sit in, and more than 14,400 home batteries since July 2025. Solar, batteries and EV chargers all connect through the switchboard, so its capacity is worth checking before you add one.

Thomastown / Voltra Electrical

A new charger. The existing system.

A Thomastown homeowner wanted an EV charger that would work with their existing solar and battery setup. The alternative being considered would have required an inverter upgrade, adding work and cost to the project.

We installed an Evnex charger compatible with the existing setup, avoiding that additional inverter upgrade. The result met this customer's charging needs while retaining the solar and battery equipment already in place.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Voltra Electrical is a Registered Electrical Contractor (REC 37324) with $10 million public liability insurance. Where electrical installation work is carried out, we provide a Certificate of Electrical Safety.
