CONSIDERED / FROM START TO FINISH

The supply matters.
So does the position.

We check the manufacturer’s requirements and the available installation route. Doorbell voltage, transformers and chimes must be assessed as a system.

We confirm the product’s power and cabling needs before agreeing the installation. Share the model and chime details where available so the whole job can be planned together.

03 / KNOW YOUR SETUP

Before you order.
Check the details.

Send the model number and a photo of the entrance to help establish what is involved.

Power requirements
Different models use batteries, a transformer or other specified supplies. Do not connect a doorbell based only on its appearance.
Wiring & chimes
Existing wiring and a mechanical or electronic chime may not suit the chosen product.
Plan the rough-in early
Building or renovating? Tell us before the plastering so the cable to the door and the inside unit goes in while the walls are open.
Position & weather
Consider the entrance, mounting height and exposure to weather before choosing the position.

05 / BEFORE WE GET STARTED

Good questions.
Clear answers.

Do you provide doorbell and intercom installation in Port Melbourne?

Yes. We cover every part of Port Melbourne (VIC 3207), on both the Melbourne and Port Phillip sides of the council boundary. Tell us your street and what you need, and we will confirm when we can be in Port Melbourne. We also cover Newport and South Melbourne.

Can you install a doorbell at my Port Melbourne home?

Usually, yes. We check whether there is an existing doorbell wire, the transformer and the chime, and plan a cable route if there is none. In apartments, check the building's rules for the entry first.

Does doorbell and intercom installation in a Port Melbourne apartment need owners corporation approval?

It depends on the building's rules. Work that touches common property, the building's structure or shared services usually needs approval, while work inside your own apartment may not. 50% of homes in Port Melbourne are flats or apartments, so we check the building's requirements with you before booking.

Can you install a doorbell I have bought?

Send the exact model first. We assess product suitability, wiring and the supported installation scope before confirming the booking.

Can existing bell wiring be reused?

Possibly. The wiring, supply and chime must meet the new product’s requirements; an existing bell does not prove compatibility.

Can you rough in a doorbell or intercom on a new build?

Yes. We run the cabling while the walls and ceilings are open, then fit off the door station and inside unit once the walls are finished.

Can you add a new doorbell where there is none?

Yes. We plan a cable route from a suitable supply or transformer to the door, with a chime where you will hear it.

YOUR HOME / YOUR AREA

Port Melbourne.
A clearer next step.

The 2021 Census counted about 9,150 dwellings in Port Melbourne, home to about 17,630 people with a median age of 42. With 50% of Port Melbourne homes in apartment buildings, entry systems are often shared and controlled by the owners corporation, so we work on the parts inside your unit. A wired doorbell needs a suitable transformer and chime, and an intercom needs cabling between the door and the inside unit, which we check first. Next door, the share of homes that are separate houses is Newport at 67% and South Melbourne at 5%, with Port Melbourne in between at 6%.

Port Melbourne is about 20 km south-west of our Lalor base, in Melbourne's inner south, around Bay Street and Station Pier. Port Melbourne is split between the Melbourne council area (about 53% of the suburb) and Port Phillip. The same service is available in nearby Newport, South Melbourne, Spotswood and West Melbourne.
