Voltra Electrical carries out rental electrical safety checks across Melbourne. Based in Lalor, we work with rental providers and property managers to arrange access, report findings and explain any follow-up work.

We assess the electrical installation and fittings within the required check, including circuit protection, earthing, outlets and lighting. Access and any limitations are recorded.
You receive a written report explaining the result and any required action. Repair work is a separate scope, with urgency explained where safety is involved.

Electrical checks, smoke alarm checks and repair certificates serve different purposes. We keep the scope clear.
- The check interval
- Two-yearly electrical checks apply to Victorian rental agreements entered into after 29 March 2021, including later rollovers from fixed-term to periodic agreements. Older continuing arrangements have separate guidance.
- The written record
- Keep the latest electrical safety-check record until the next is created. Consumer Affairs Victoria also sets out when it must be provided to a renter.
- Inspection and repairs
- An inspection report records the check. A Certificate of Electrical Safety relates to electrical installation or repair work; it is not a substitute for the check report.
- Smoke alarms & gas
- Smoke alarm checks are a separate requirement and can be discussed when arranging the visit. Gas checks require an appropriately qualified gasfitter and are not included in this electrical service.

How often is an electrical safety check required?
For the rental agreements covered by Victoria's rules, the interval is at least every two years. Applicability depends on the agreement's start or rollover date. See the current Consumer Affairs Victoria guidance linked above.
What if there is no recent check when a renter moves in?
For covered agreements, Consumer Affairs Victoria says the check must be completed as soon as possible if none was done within the previous two years. Tell us the circumstances when arranging a visit.
What report will we receive?
A written record of the electrical safety check, with the electrician's details, date, findings and actions. A Certificate of Electrical Safety is provided separately when electrical installation or repair work requires it.
Does a check guarantee that nothing will go wrong?
No. The report records the assessment and findings at the time, including any limitations. It does not replace ongoing maintenance or prompt attention to new faults.
Are repairs included in the check?
Repairs are quoted separately unless expressly included in the agreed scope. We explain the findings and any urgent safety action, then discuss the required rectification.
Can you work with our property manager?
Yes. We accept work orders and can coordinate the visit through the authorised property contact. Include a reference or access notes when making the enquiry; private tenant details can be arranged directly later.
Can smoke alarms be checked at the same visit?
We can discuss adding a smoke alarm check to the visit. It is a separate scope and frequency from the electrical check, so tell us what is needed when arranging the work.
Does this include gas or every rental minimum standard?
No. This service is an electrical safety check. Gas safety and other rental requirements need their own appropriate checks; we clearly confirm the electrical scope before the visit.
