CARLTON NORTH / MELBOURNE'S INNER CITY
Carlton North is one of Melbourne's older suburbs, where many homes are Victorian and Edwardian terraces and cottages set among newer townhouses and apartments.
Carlton North is home to about 6,180 people in about 3,020 dwellings (2021 Census), split into 6% separate houses, 71% townhouses, terraces or semi-detached homes and 21% flats and apartments. About half households in Carlton North rent (50%), while 28% own outright and 19% have a mortgage. By comparison, the share of homes that are separate houses is higher in neighbouring Brunswick (35%) and Brunswick East (23%).
Townhouses and semi-detached homes (71% here, 18% of all homes being two storeys or more) often have the meter box, switchboard and garage in different places, so cable routes are planned before anything is quoted.
47 home batteries have been installed in postcode 3054 since July 2025, on top of 494 solar systems since 2001, according to the Clean Energy Regulator. Solar inverters, batteries and EV chargers all connect through the switchboard, so its capacity and space are worth checking before adding them. Neighbouring Brunswick (48%) and Brunswick East (53%) are similar on this measure.
Carlton North is split between the Yarra council area (about 51% of the suburb) and Melbourne. We also work in the suburbs next door: Brunswick, Brunswick East, Carlton and Fitzroy. Local landmarks include Rathdowne Village and Princes Park.

05 / BEFORE WE GET STARTED
Yes. We work right across Carlton North (VIC 3054), on both the Yarra and Melbourne sides of the council boundary, up to the borders with Brunswick, Brunswick East and Carlton. Include your street in the enquiry so we can confirm the booking details.
Victorian rental providers must arrange an electrical safety check at least every two years, and smoke alarms need to be tested every year. About 50% of Carlton North's households rent (about 1,310 homes at the 2021 Census), so we can work with you or your agent on access and provide the written report.
It is worth checking before adding major load such as air conditioning, an induction cooktop or an EV charger. Older boards can have rewireable fuses or circuits without safety-switch protection. We assess the board and explain what, if anything, needs to change.
Tell us what you want changed, your street in Carlton North and any access details. For a townhouse, mention where the meter box and switchboard are. Photos are optional; there is no need to remove electrical covers.
Call 0495 096 344 or use the enquiry below. We review the job and discuss availability and the next step. A submitted request does not itself confirm a booking.
