WILLIAMSTOWN / MELBOURNE'S INNER WEST
Williamstown is one of Melbourne's older suburbs, where many homes are Victorian and Edwardian terraces and cottages set among newer townhouses and apartments.
The 2021 Census counted about 5,460 occupied homes in Williamstown, made up of 56% separate houses, 30% townhouses, terraces or semi-detached homes and 13% flats and apartments. Renters make up about 24% of Williamstown's households; 40% of homes are owned outright and 33% are mortgaged. By comparison, the share of homes that are separate houses is higher in neighbouring Altona (61%) and Altona North (69%).
With 40% of homes owned outright and a median age of 45, many Williamstown households have been in place for years. Older installations are often extended bit by bit, so it is worth reviewing the switchboard and smoke alarms when other work is planned.
In postcode 3016, about 1,750 rooftop solar systems have been installed since 2001 and 172 home batteries since July 2025 (Clean Energy Regulator). Solar inverters, batteries and EV chargers all connect through the switchboard, so its capacity and space are worth checking before adding them. The share of households with two or more cars is 52% in Williamstown, higher than in next-door Altona (47%) and Altona North (50%).
Williamstown sits within the Hobsons Bay council area. We also work in the suburbs next door: Altona, Altona North, Newport and Spotswood. Local landmarks include Nelson Place and the Williamstown Botanic Gardens.

05 / BEFORE WE GET STARTED
Yes. We work right across Williamstown (VIC 3016), up to the borders with Altona, Altona North and Newport. Include your street in the enquiry so we can confirm the booking details.
Usually, yes. 56% of homes in Williamstown are separate houses and 52% of households run two or more cars, so a wall charger in a garage, carport or driveway is common. We check the switchboard, supply and cable route before confirming the installation.
It is worth checking before adding major load such as air conditioning, an induction cooktop or an EV charger. Older boards can have rewireable fuses or circuits without safety-switch protection. We assess the board and explain what, if anything, needs to change.
Tell us what you want changed, your street in Williamstown and any access details. If you have chosen a fitting or appliance, include the model. Photos are optional; there is no need to remove electrical covers.
Call 0495 096 344 or use the enquiry below. We review the job and discuss availability and the next step. A submitted request does not itself confirm a booking.
