CONSIDERED / FROM START TO FINISH

Position first.
Then the finishing detail.

We discuss alignment with joinery, furniture and adjacent lighting. A final height is agreed on site with the fitting’s adjustment range and safe clearances in mind.

Moving a ceiling point can involve a new cable route and making good the old opening. We explain those details before committing to a position.

03 / KNOW YOUR SETUP

Before it goes up.
Get the details right.

The product dimensions, weight and mounting instructions are as useful as a picture of the design.

Ceiling support
Mounting must suit the fitting’s weight and instructions. Existing light-point support is not assumed to be adequate.
Suspension height
Agree the drop for the room, furniture and fitting. There is no single height that suits every pendant.
Switching & dimming
Check the lamp or integrated driver against the proposed dimmer. Not every decorative fitting is dimmable.
Relocation & repairs
New positions may leave old openings. Agree cable access, patching and painting responsibilities before installation.

05 / BEFORE WE GET STARTED

Good questions.
Clear answers.

Do you provide pendant light installation in Port Melbourne?

Yes. We cover every part of Port Melbourne (VIC 3207), on both the Melbourne and Port Phillip sides of the council boundary. Include your street and a short description of the job, and we will come back to you about timing. We also cover Newport and South Melbourne.

Can a heavy pendant be hung from my Port Melbourne ceiling?

Usually, with the right support. We check the ceiling structure and add a suitable fixing for the fitting's weight. Concrete ceilings need a different fixing method.

Does pendant light installation in a Port Melbourne apartment need owners corporation approval?

It depends on the building's rules. Work that touches common property, the building's structure or shared services usually needs approval, while work inside your own apartment may not. 50% of homes in Port Melbourne are flats or apartments, so we check the building's requirements with you before booking.

Can you install pendants I supply?

Yes, subject to suitability. Send the product details, weight and installation instructions before arranging the work.

Can the pendant be moved away from the existing light point?

Often, but access and cable routing determine what is possible. An old opening may need patching and painting by the appropriate trade.

Are all pendants dimmable?

No. Compatibility depends on the lamp or integrated driver and the control. Check the specific product before purchase.

Can you work with high or sloped ceilings?

Send photos and approximate height. Mounting suitability and access equipment need assessing before the work can be quoted.

YOUR HOME / YOUR AREA

Port Melbourne.
A clearer next step.

The 2021 Census counted about 9,150 dwellings in Port Melbourne, home to about 17,630 people with a median age of 42. Port Melbourne's period homes often have high ceilings and original ceiling roses, which suit a single pendant as the room's centrepiece. Heavier fittings need a fixing into the ceiling structure, which we check before the light arrives. Next door, the share of homes that are flats or apartments is Newport at 8% and South Melbourne at 59%, with Port Melbourne in between at 50%.

Port Melbourne is about 20 km south-west of our Lalor base, in Melbourne's inner south, around Bay Street and Station Pier. Port Melbourne is split between the Melbourne council area (about 53% of the suburb) and Port Phillip. Next door, we also cover Newport, South Melbourne, Spotswood and West Melbourne.
