A properly installed exhaust fan prevents mould, removes steam, and keeps your bathroom or kitchen fresh. Voltra Electrical installs and replaces exhaust fans with correct ducting, timer switches, and compliance certification.
Exhaust fans are essential in any bathroom, kitchen, or laundry — but they only work properly when installed with correct ducting to the exterior. Many homes have exhaust fans that vent into the roof cavity instead of outside, which causes moisture buildup, mould growth, and timber damage. Voltra Electrical installs exhaust fans with proper rigid or flexible ducting routed to an external vent, ensuring moisture is actually removed from your home. We handle everything from simple fan replacements to new installations where no fan currently exists — including cutting ceiling holes, running new circuits, and installing timer or humidity-sensor switches.
The most common exhaust fan installations we handle are bathroom fan replacements (old fan failed or is too noisy), new bathroom fan installations in older homes that never had one, kitchen rangehood exhaust ducting, and laundry exhaust fans. For bathrooms, we recommend fans with a minimum extraction rate of 25 litres per second for standard bathrooms, and higher for larger or windowless bathrooms. Timer switches (run-on timers that keep the fan running for 5–15 minutes after you leave) are the most effective option for moisture control. Humidity-sensor fans that activate automatically are also available. All installations include proper sealing at the external vent to prevent water ingress and pest entry.
Yes — we cut the ceiling hole, run new cabling, install the fan, and duct it to an external vent. This is common in older bathrooms that were built without exhaust fans.
Always outside. Venting into the roof cavity causes moisture buildup, mould, and timber damage. We install proper ducting to an external wall or roof vent.
We recommend a run-on timer switch that keeps the fan running for 5–15 minutes after you leave the bathroom. This removes residual moisture without you having to remember to leave it on.
A straightforward replacement takes 30–60 minutes. A new installation with ducting typically takes 1.5–3 hours depending on roof access and duct run length.
