SMART HOME / CONNECTED CONTROLS

CONSIDERED / FROM START TO FINISH

Familiar switches.
Considered connections.

We review the switch position, connected load and wiring required by the selected product. Controls are planned around your daily routines and the devices you want to use together.

Network coverage, hubs, accounts and integrations are part of the planning conversation. We agree what setup is included and explain normal operation and any limitations.

03 / KNOW YOUR SETUP

Choose the system.
Then choose the devices.

Compatibility is specific to the product and version. A shared smart-home label does not mean every device works together.

Wiring requirements
Some devices need wiring that is not present at an existing switch. We check the installation before confirming the retrofit.
Controls & dimming
Dimmers, LED drivers and lamps must be a compatible combination. Basic switching and dimming are different functions.
Network & hubs
Check required hubs, wireless coverage and internet dependence. Some functions may be unavailable during an outage.
Accounts & ongoing support
Agree who owns accounts and what setup is included. Manufacturer services, subscriptions and future updates are outside the electrical installation itself.

05 / BEFORE WE GET STARTED

Good questions.
Clear answers.

Do you provide smart home and automation in Doreen?

Yes. We cover every part of Doreen (VIC 3754), on both the Nillumbik and Whittlesea sides of the council boundary. Tell us your street and what you need, and we will confirm when we can be in Doreen. We also cover Mernda and South Morang.

Will smart switches work in my Doreen home?

Many will, but it depends on the switch wiring and your Wi-Fi. Tell us the products you are considering and we will confirm compatibility first.

My Doreen home is only a few years old. Is smart home and automation straightforward?

Usually. Newer homes generally have a modern switchboard with safety switches, although insulation, ceiling space and slab construction still affect cable routes. 58% of Doreen homes were mortgaged at the 2021 Census.

Can you add smart controls to an existing home?

Often, but suitability depends on the wiring, connected equipment and selected products. We assess the proposed locations before confirming the work.

Will everything work with my voice assistant?

Not automatically. Share the exact devices and platform so compatibility can be checked. Features vary by product, region and software version.

Do you install every automation platform?

No universal platform support is promised. Tell us your chosen products and desired functions so we can confirm the scope before quoting.

Can I start with one room?

Yes. Planning the wider system first can help avoid incompatible purchases while keeping the first installation small.

YOUR HOME / YOUR AREA

Doreen.
A clearer next step.

The 2021 Census counted about 9,100 dwellings in Doreen, home to about 27,120 people with a median age of 33. 77% of Doreen homes are owner-occupied. Newer homes usually have neutral wiring at switches, which suits most smart switches. Larger and multi-level homes often need a reliable network before automation works well. The share of homes with a mortgage is 58% in Doreen, higher than in next-door Mernda (55%) and South Morang (52%).

980 home batteries have been installed in postcode 3754 since July 2025, on top of about 7,630 solar systems since 2001, according to the Clean Energy Regulator. Solar and battery systems add to what the switchboard has to manage, which we take into account.

From Lalor, Doreen is roughly 14 km to the north-east, in Melbourne's outer north, around Laurimar Town Centre and the Plenty River Trail. Doreen is split between the Nillumbik council area (about 55% of the suburb) and Whittlesea. Next door, we also cover Mernda, South Morang, Mill Park and Whittlesea.
