CONSIDERED / FROM START TO FINISH

Choose for the location.
Plan for the weather.

Step lighting can define changes in level, while carefully positioned garden lights bring planting into view. Outdoor fittings are selected for their actual exposure and manufacturer instructions.

We discuss power, cable routes and switching alongside the lighting layout. Landscaping, trenching and restoration are identified before the scope is agreed.

Plan your outdoor lighting

SENSOR, SECURITY & FLOOD LIGHTS

Sensor and security lights.
Set up to suit the space.

Lighting the driveway, side path or back yard well makes coming home easier and safer. The fitting, its position and how it switches on matter as much as how bright it is.

Sensor lights
Motion sensor lights switch on as you arrive. We position the sensor to cover the path or driveway without being set off by the street.
Security lights & floodlights
Brighter lights for driveways, side paths and back yards, aimed to light the area without glaring into neighbouring windows.
Replacing old floodlights
Old halogen floodlights replaced with LED fittings that use less power. We check the mounting and switching at the same time.
Garden & path lighting
Low, softer light for paths, steps and planting, including low-voltage garden lighting systems.
Deck & alfresco lighting
Downlights, wall lights and strip lighting for entertaining areas, on switches, dimmers or timers.
Weatherproof fittings
Every outdoor fitting is chosen for its location, from a sheltered wall to an exposed garden bed.

03 / KNOW YOUR SETUP

Beyond the fitting.
Consider the setting.

Photos of the paths, seating areas and intended light positions help us understand the project.

Weather exposure
Sheltered walls and exposed gardens have different conditions. Suitability is checked for each location, not assumed from appearance.
Cable pathways
Access, existing services and landscaped surfaces influence routing and any trenching or surface work.
Glare & neighbours
Aim fittings around the intended task and consider spill towards adjoining windows, roads and shared areas.
Controls
Discuss manual switching, timers or suitable motion sensors. Sensor placement and detection need to suit how the area is used.

05 / BEFORE WE GET STARTED

Good questions.
Clear answers.

Do you provide outdoor and security lighting in Doreen?

Yes. We cover every part of Doreen (VIC 3754), on both the Nillumbik and Whittlesea sides of the council boundary. Tell us your street and what you need, and we will confirm when we can be in Doreen. We also cover Mernda and South Morang.

What outdoor lighting suits a Doreen home?

It depends on how you use the space: path and step lighting for safety, sensor lights for entries and driveways, and softer lighting for entertaining. We plan cable routes and outdoor-rated fittings to suit the garden.

My Doreen home is only a few years old. Is outdoor and security lighting straightforward?

Usually. Newer homes generally have a modern switchboard with safety switches, although insulation, ceiling space and slab construction still affect cable routes. 58% of Doreen homes were mortgaged at the 2021 Census.

Can indoor lights be used outside under a roof?

Only if the product is suitable for the actual location and conditions. Shelter alone does not establish that an indoor fitting is appropriate.

Can you install sensor lights on my driveway?

Yes, where a suitable product and position can be agreed. The detection area and nearby movement, such as the street, affect where the sensor goes and how it is set.

Can you replace old floodlights with LED?

Yes. LED floodlights use less power than old halogen fittings. We check the existing fitting, its mounting and the switching before replacing it.

Will the garden need trenching?

It depends on the supply and routes. We assess options and clarify excavation, surface protection and restoration in the quote.

YOUR HOME / YOUR AREA

Doreen.
A clearer next step.

Doreen had about 27,120 residents and about 9,100 homes at the 2021 Census, with a median age of 33. 95% of Doreen homes are separate houses, most with front and back gardens, driveways or decks. Newer homes often have an alfresco area that was built with little lighting. Fittings are chosen with suitable outdoor ratings and controls such as sensors or timers. By comparison, the share of homes that are separate houses is lower in neighbouring Mernda (89%) and South Morang (84%).

Doreen is about 14 km north-east of our Lalor base, in Melbourne's outer north, around Laurimar Town Centre and the Plenty River Trail. Doreen is split between the Nillumbik council area (about 55% of the suburb) and Whittlesea. We also work in neighbouring Mernda, South Morang, Mill Park and Whittlesea.
